About Stephanie:
Meet the Team
Stephanie Garvin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. As a cognitive behavioral therapist in Philadelphia, she has both passion and years of experience providing therapy to both teenagers and adults, to help them navigate unique life transitions, their identity, and challenges in this phase of life. Stephanie has a personal understanding of the difficulty of asking for help and the stigma connected to mental health and therapy. She strives to bridge the gap in access to quality service. For that reason, Stephanie constantly pursues knowledge that allows her to provide culturally affirming therapy.
Stephanie is here to help those who are feeling “stuck”, struggling with grief and/or having issues setting healthy boundaries at work and in their personal life. Not only is Stephanie’s approach trauma informed therapy, she also has expertise in trauma therapy approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Stephanie completed her undergraduate work at Howard University in Washington, DC and her graduate work at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. Her ultimate goal is to help others find value in themselves and learn to live their lives unapologetically.
About Tahyna
Tahyna Jules is a Licensed Professional Counselor located in the Philadelphia Area with over 15 years of behavioral health and therapeutic experience. Her approach is a combination of person-centered, trauma-focused CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) and motivational interviewing, all deeply rooted in culturally competent care. Her specializations include anxiety, depression, co-parenting/blended families, and identity exploration.
In her years of service, she has focused on adolescents and families, with a heart for marginalized people groups in urban contexts. As a counselor, she desires to provide people with tools to successfully grow, manage challenges, and explore themselves, helping them feel and ultimately be well. Tahyna counsels through a lens of wellness as a comprehensive concept that considers the connections among life experiences, thinking, and self-conception. Her hands-on approach, borne of her time as a social worker, school counselor, and therapist, is coupled with an understanding of incremental growth over time towards a personally created and actualized goal. Tahyna believes that everyone is an expert in their own lives and provides a non-judgmental space for people to process with care.
To my counselees: “Therapy is not always going to fix everything, but it can be that necessary step that can be utilized to help us through the peaks and valleys of life. I believe that people always have the ability to grow, change, develop, and evolve. Don’t run away from hard things or complex emotions. You can’t know everything about yourself in one sitting, it is a lifelong journey of self-exploration, and counseling is just one step along the way. I want you to be well.”
